Welcome to Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language!
Today we are living in the age of multiculturalism and globalization. It is no longer difficult to meet foreigners or to go aboard. Thousands of international students are studying at our university alone. We live our lives together with the rest of the world!
What is most important for those who are either interested in Korea or are already living here? That is right! It is to learn Korea through its language and culture.
The Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language is the place where talented individuals receive professional education in Korean language and Korean culture.
There are almost two million foreigners in Korea today, and the number of Korean language students abroad has been consistently growing.
Our major was opened in 2003 in order to meet the current trends.
After graduation is the students are eligible to receive a Korean Language Teacher’s Certificate(Level 2).The certificate allows them to teach Korean language and culture in multiple institutions, both in Korea and in other countries.
Currently our department has more than two hundred students. All of them are studying hard to realize their dreams of becoming Koean language and culture teachers.
However, to teach Korean language and culture is not an easy task. Therefore, our department offers multiple programs in order to help the students on their way to become professional Korean language and Korean culture teachers.
In addition to our systematic curriculum we also organize domestic and foreign internships, domestic and foreign cultural visits, assistance in Korean language learning and many other activities in which the students can participate during their four years of studies in order to prepare themselves for teaching Korean language and Korean culture. Moreover, the number of international students and students who participate in international internships in our department is highest in the whole College of Humanities and Foreign Studies. All of this creates a great environment for the students to stay in touch with the rest of the world during their educational track.
