Introduction
Department of Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language was established to fulfill the demands of multiculturalism and globalization. We offer educational opportunities to develop professional skills in Korean language and Korean culture education. The scope of our field is as follows.

- We comparatively examine religious, regional and popular culture in order to explore the foundations of Korean language and Korean culture education. This allows as to improve our understanding of other cultures and multiculturalism, and also allows us to develop cultural tolerance and practical skills which are required in the Korean language and Korean culture education.
- We provide our students with teaching skills that allow them to teach Korean language and Korean culture to learners in Korea and all over the world as a tool of communication and intercultural exchange.
- We offer multiple practical courses as well as domestic and international internship programs which help the students improve their adaptive and executive skills.

Educational Goals
Department of Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language aims to foster professionals in Korean language and Korean culture education. Our objectives are:
- To establish a foundation for intercultural Korean language and Korean culture education that cultures
- To develop skills required for effective Kroean language education, both in Korea and aboard
Special Programs

- Korean Language Teacher’s Certificate Curriculum
- We offer regular courses that allow the students to receive a Korean Language Teacher’s Certificate(Level 2) on the moment of graduation. The Certificate is granted by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism following the Framework Act on the National Language.

- Domestic and International Cultural Visits
- We offer an ODYSSEIA KOREANA scholarship to ten students every year. The scholarship is granted by the professors of the Department of Global Korean Language and Culture Education and covers costs of a 1-2 week-long cultural visit.

- Domestic and International Korean Language Teaching Internships
- We offer an internship system which allows the students to put into practice what they have learned in classes and further improve their knowledge in the field of Korean Language and Culture Education. They have a chance to improve their professional and practical skills by working as Korean language teachers either inside Korea or abroad in King Sejong Institutes and Keimyung Korea Centers in the USA, Vietnam, Indonesia, China and many other countries.

- Korean Language Learning Assistance
- Students can help teach Korean language to Korean Government Scholarship Program students by as a buddy in language and culture camps or a mentor in language programs organized by the Office of international Affairs. The programs allow the students to practice their teaching skills and develop cultural tolerance at the same time.

- International Language and Culture Exchange
- Students can share their languages and cultures with other international students from countries such as China, Vietnam, Pakistan, Japan, Tajikistan and many others who comprise one-third of all the students in our department.
